** Explo tour Jocelyn Andriamalala a superb guide and service ** We have travelled twice with Joce on long trips in his amazing country, in 2016 and 2019, and as we think about another trip, I want to re-iterate how extraordinary Joce and his drivers are so that other travelers have the chance to travel with him. Joce is kind, scrupulously honest, endlessly resourceful, and great company. He understood what we said about our travel style, interests, and budget and helped us design two trips that fit all of that exactly, and with flexibility and humor. When we wanted to stay a bit longer in places, he laid out what our options were and how we could do that. When my travel companions opted out of a village stay, but I wanted to spend the night in the community, he arranged a place for them in a comfortable hotel in a nearby town then insisted he stay with me in the village. That village stay was a highlight of my trip. As was the time we all spent in his home with his wife, son, and daughter. He is great company, and a very funny man. The same was true of our drivers, Victor, and Nicholas, great road trip companions. He speaks both French and English very well, and responds quickly to emails and WhatsApp. Madagascar is a superb experience. Do it with Joce and 'bump' it up to truly extraordinary.

** Explo Tour Madagascar ** My sister and I have just finished a 3 week tour of Madagascar. It has been a real adventure full of experiences. Our first 2 weeks were touring around the East, West and South with Joce and his son, Tony, from Explo Tours. They are a Madagascan family company with a couple of cars and drivers (Joce his son and his son in law). We worked out an itinerary with Joce and he booked all the local guides, accomodation etc for us. We were looked after from start to finish. There are some long days travelling on bad roads but that is all part of the experience and driving through the small villages and changing landscape is magical. Joce and Tony bought biscuits to distribute to the poorest children on the road sides and when we saw that we bought more at the first opportunity.  Our last week was spent at Peter Pan in Anakao for some R&R after the travel. ** Explo tour Jocelyn Andramalala – Top Notch Guide ** When you travel into Madagascar you need a driver/ guide, and the folks you want to be guiding you around the country is Joce and his associates. After reading some reviews and doing research on Madagascar, I contacted Joce with a list of places I wanted to visit. Joce and I exchanged several emails as he made suggestions and we built a 22-day itinerary. Even though he was out with another client, he found time to answer my questions and stay in contact. Joce is very flexible. Towards the end of the trip I wanted to make changes and he worked with me to accommodate my interests and desires with ease and grace. I had asked to not only visit most of the national parks, but also wanted to see what life was like in Madagascar. Joce did not disappoint. I had a wonderful experience over the 22 days I was there. Joce is very aware of safety for his clients and will guide you accordingly. I felt completely safe with him throughout the whole trip. On long driving days, he added a second driver so they could trade off and continue to be alert. When google reviews for hotels were mixed, Joce knew which ones to take me to that were safe, comfortable, and had good food. Because he knows exactly where to stop in each village to get the best street food, I had a wonderful sampling of both food and local life as we traveled around, which was most every day. I strongly suggest doing the river trip for at least 2 days. That, in itself, is a rich experience. I highly recommend Joce and the folks at Explo Tour. The roads are extremely rough but I couldn't be happier with the services Joce provided. I am posting because I had so much trouble finding a guide for this trip, especially one that speaks English. I ultimately settled on Joce based on a TripAdvisor post from 4 years prior and wanted to reshare the information in case anyone else is in a similar position. I always prefer paying guides directly instead of going through some larger European tour enterprise where there is a significant upcharge that does not ultimately go to the local people.

** Best driver in Madagascar ** Traveling with our driver Joce (Jocelyn) in Madagascar was a pleasure. It all started here on TripAdvisor. We had bought tickets to Madagascar, to travel around the island for 3 weeks. Our first thoughts was to rent a car and drive around this huge island ourselves. But searching on Google for rental cars, quickly gave us other thoughts. It was very difficult to find a place to rent a car, or at least one without a driver. Reading on TripAdvisor, we understood why we needed a driver. The roads are not very good, the traffic is crazy and the small villages was full of people on the road, buying or selling stuff on the local market and driving at night can also be risky. Our plan had been a bit too ambitious. Joce made a very detailed itinerary, and explained why our first plan not was possible. After a lot of mails back and forth with a couple of drivers we decided to go with Joce. He offered the best service, a fair price and most important; seamed serious. He also helped us book all of our hotels. When we arrived at the airport, Joce waited for us as planned. Happy to see us we left the airport, collected money and drove to our first destination, Antsirabe. During the whole trip Joce was always making sure that we were okay and had everything we needed. He also helped us with English speaking guides to all the national parks and reserves. All in all, Joce is a fantastic driver and person, and we warmly recommend him. Madagascar is a wonderful country and we will definitely come back and have Joce as our driver again. ** A great Madagascar trip with explo tour ** I had a great trip in Madagascar last September arranged by Joce from explo tour! He organized for us a car & driver for each leg of the trip (we did central-south RN6 and then north part after an internal flight), local guides at parks, and also booked the hotels as requested by me all according to our itinerary. everything was executed promptly on time and was smoothly arranged all at very affordable prices! ** A great guide to use for your trip to Madagascar ** I have recently returned from spending a week in Madagascar being guided with Anthony from Explo Tours. I loved it. I must admit driving involves some long days of travelling on roads full of potholes requires faith in whether you are ever going to get to your destination. But when you do it is so worth it. Being a sociologist, I am fascinated with different cultures and Madagascar was one place I had not been. Having a private guide is the perfect way to find out the ‘inside story’ of a culture. Anthony was just great. He speaks good English and as the son of Joce (well known by Mada travellers, I believe) I could ask him anything. On our way to the lemur forest it was night and pouring rain when BANG we hit a pothole causing a problem with a wheel of our 4WD. I was concerned I must admit but Anthony just got out with his torch, routed around in the back for some tools and got to work. I’m not sure exactly what he did silently, without one single curse word, but he fixed it enough to finish our journey. Next morning at the required time he met me at my hotel with a smile and the car good as new. If you are thinking of a trip to Madagascar you won’t do any better than Explo. Joce will organise everything for you.

** Great trip with Joce ** Joce was excellent at helping us to plan our trip. He was very adaptable for our different requests for the holiday and always happy to accommodate. His response time when communicating was brilliant at all times of day, going above and beyond. This was really helpful for settling our nerves, as we were skepical booking through a non-verified company. Throughout the trip Joce was a pleasure to be with, he is very humble and has a reassuring, calm persona. He is very kind and generous, he will stop in deprived neighbourhoods and hand out cloths and food to the children of the village. Joce was brilliant with helping us knowing where the best spots and was happy to assist ordering water. Joce has an excellent reputation and strong relationships with the Malagasy guides and other drivers, meaning you often get the best guides which is a bonus! He has your best interests at heart. There were points in our trip (due to our requests off his standard itinerary), that we were with other drivers. Joce made sure that all of the drivers were also great and that the transition between drivers was smooth. Joce’s driving was very impressive, there were some very long days in the car and he did very well. This was despite the horrendous road conditions. It’s important to know that the journey on the roads take much longer than it says on google maps due to the conditions. As for Madagascar its self, it is amazing and a great adventure. The biodiversity is amazing and beautiful, some of the plant and animal species are unbelievable, I’ll not ruin the surprise for you! It is a fascinating place, full of unique adventures. Without a doubt we would recommend Joce to anyone interested in going to Madagascar.

** The best way to discover all that Madagascar has to offer ** For my recent trip to Madagascar, Joce (the owner of Explo Tour) expertly arranged a personalised itinerary for me (which included pick-up and drop off at airports, all hotels, transport, and all trips). As a result, I had the most amazing time. Everything was so well planned and organised for me that I didn't need to worry about any arrangements. My driver was not just a brilliant driver (which you need to be on Madagascan roads) but also made me (as a solo female traveller) feel safe at all times. I really appreciated the way that the itinerary was continuously adapted to suit my needs and preferences (eg where I'd preferred to eat or visit, or how long I wanted to spend on any of the activities). The local guides that were hired for me throughout the holiday were also superb! If you want to explore Madagascar and experience all that it offers in terms of its wonderful landscape, wildlife and people (and are prepared for a lot of travelling) I cannot imagine a better way to do it than with Explo Tour.

** A perfect match for photographers ** We arranged everything through Joce in advance, he gave us Alan as our driver. The rest was pure adventure. Very satisfied with Alan. Speaks good English, drives well and he is an easygoing guy. Which was important to us, since we had some very strange wishes, comparing to most tourists.

** We have just completed a 10 days tour with Tony, Joce’s son…. We made our travel plans via email and WhatsApp with Joce and was able to confirm the tour with a small deposit via western union .. Joce was very responsive during the planning stage and he will give you the option to book your own accommodation if you want to… We love the accommodation at Anrdasibe national park & Antsirabe ( Flower Hotel )… Tony was really patient with us..is always on time .. and is always by the car looking after our luggages, while we went on different tours.. Our Lemur tour guide is specially chosen by Joce to work with his client.. and he’s really good! And we really appreciate that Tony will consistently check on the car.. eg, brakes and tyres to ensure everything is in order. Driving for 12 hours a day is no joke .. and Tony was always very alert while driving … we felt safe in his hand… The restaurant he brought us to during lunch are affordable and high quality .. We’ll definitely recommend Joce and his team …
